The triangle of power
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The United States is ruled by a triangle of power. Hollywood is the hub of the entertainment industry; Washington, D.C., is the home of the federal government; and New York City is the nation’s business capital.
If Christ’s followers influence these citadels of power, the nation could experience a spiritual awakening. But we will never influence America’s powerbrokers if we do not pray for them. Nor will we influence their decisions if we walk in fear, throw up our hands, and shout our dissatisfaction from a distance.
Why haven’t more believers answered the call to work inside television studios, to walk the halls of Congress, to assume offices on Wall Street? After all, the Spirit within us is far more powerful than the triangle of power.
Ephesians 1:18-21 says, “I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the … incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come” (NIV).
Let us pray that future generations will receive a fresh revelation of what can be accomplished through the Spirit’s empowerment. May they accept His call to be agents of change in places where corruption and immorality abound.
God has not given up on the triangle of power. Unfortunately, some believers have. Consequently our nation has suffered, and many dark places have not seen the light of Christ. That must change.
