Stretch your dollars

This year many families have been forced to cinch their finances. At the pump drivers are paying upwards of a dollar more per gallon than they did last year. Sunnyside eggs — or any eggs for that matter — cost about 20 percent more than in 2007. Meats, cheeses, breads … most anything you buy at the grocery store costs more.

Throw in plummeting home prices and investments of all kinds that have taken a beating and it is easy to see why consumer confidence is shaken. But rather than dwell on all the negatives that these skinny economic times have thrust upon us, we offer some simple tips and solutions that might help you stretch your dollars as far they can go.
