Who We Are

As the official weekly magazine of the Assemblies of God, the Pentecostal Evangel fulfills the threefold mission of the church:

  • To propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ;

  • To give emphasis to Pentecostal distinctives, including the baptism in the Holy Spirit and its desired effects in the lives of believers;

  • To strengthen believers.

This mission is carried out through publishing inspirational features that focus on contemporary issues, biblical instruction and devotional guides, Christian news, and conversation pieces with Christian believers. More than 28,000 individuals have reported making commitments to Jesus since 1997 through reading the Evangel.

First published in 1913 as The Christian Evangel one year before the formation of the Assemblies of God, the Pentecostal Evangel blesses hundreds of thousands of people each week. J. Roswell and Alice Flower established The Christian Evangel to report on revivals and missions activities. Pentecostal Evangel Books, which debuted in 1999, further augments that mission.

Special Notes:

The World Missions Edition is the product of a partnership between the Pentecostal Evangel and Assemblies of God World Missions. Through the WME, readers receive a perspective on our Fellowship's efforts to fulfill the Great Commission.

We trust you will be blessed and challenged by the inspiring articles and features, informative news and vivid photography and graphics. We also hope you will be encouraged to support the work of world missions through your prayers and gifts.
