The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. For a moment it frightened me. Somehow a full-length reflection of one’s self is a startling thing. ...

April 9, 2010 - Take Hold of Life

By Gary Rogers

Jesus is identified with life in the Word, in our hymnology and in countless theological expressions. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the Bread of life. He is the Prince of life. In Him we have life. He gives life and gives it more abundantly. In Him there is a life-giving flow. Over and over throughout Scripture Jesus is recognized as our life source.

The paradox is that it took Christ’s death for Him to obtain the victory necessary to qualify for this position. “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death — that is, the devil — and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Hebrews 2:14,15, NIV).

The outcome of this victory is freedom from the fear of death for all who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Through Jesus’ victory, Christians cannot be threatened with death. Death holds no fear any longer. Death is a doorway into eternal life. Death is just a means to travel from here into God’s presence.

Today we live in victory due to Jesus’ victory. Keep your head up and a smile on your face, because you are on the winners’ side.
