  • July 11, 2014 - Reflections

    By Jean S. Horner
The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. April 12, 2010 - Who's in Control?

By Danny Cheney

Who is in control of your life? Perhaps your boss comes to mind, or your spouse, or even your kids. The most important question, however, is whether you are trying to control your life or letting God control you.

As human beings, we like to be in control. We don’t like to live our lives for someone else. We may think, “It’s my life; I can do as I please.” That statement is somewhat true. God gives us the freedom to make good choices or poor ones. But when we do what pleases God, our lives are wonderfully blessed.

John the Baptist said, “He must become greater; I must become less” (John 3:30, NIV).

What a powerful statement! This sums up the whole definition of surrender. As a child of God, we no longer seek to live for ourselves but for God. We should seek to die to ourselves, our plans, our own agendas and our pleasures, and take up God’s life plan for us.

We can say that we love God. We can work for His kingdom. We can pray and read our Bible and still not be submitted to Him. But when we really surrender to Christ, we will see His reflection in our lives.

Surrender your life to the Savior. Give everything over to Him. As you do, you’ll discover you can give up your worries and enjoy the assurance that He is working out His wonderful plan in you.
