April 20, 2010 - Feed My Sheep

By Scott McChrystal

“Again Jesus said, ‘Simon son of John, do you truly love me?’ He answered, ‘Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.’ Jesus said, ‘Take care of my sheep” (John 21:16, NIV).

Can you imagine the scene? Peter is face-to-face with Jesus. The Lord asks, “Do you truly love me?” Then Jesus commands, “Feed my sheep” (KJV).

The issue must have been important because Jesus asked the same question three times. Following each of Peter’s responses, Jesus gave the same command: “Feed my sheep.”

Do you see the connection? In large measure, our love for God can be seen in how we treat other people.

Do you love the Lord? If you say that you do, how are you treating His sheep — your soldiers, your spouse, your children and other people?

Remember Jesus’ command: “Feed my sheep.”
