June 7, 2010 - Love Produces Encouragement

By Scott McChrystal

“Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints” (Philemon 7, NIV).

Military life can be tough. But everyone, even the most hardened warriors, are encouraged by acts of love.

A hardened veteran of missionary ministry himself, Paul expressed this fact in a letter. Philemon’s love shown toward fellow believers brought joy and encouragement to Paul’s heart.

Despite wartime conditions, U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have demonstrated love to children in both countries. Their actions have brought joy and encouragement not only to the kids, but also to millions of Americans back home.

Love never fails. Don’t underestimate your ability to encourage many through your love shown to others.

Try it!
