    By Jean S. Horner
The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. For a moment it frightened me. Somehow a full-length reflection of one’s self is a startling thing. ...

June 25, 2010 - He's Watching Out for You

By Hal Donaldson

The sky turned an eerie gray. Soon, our windshield wipers couldn’t keep pace with the heavy rain. Gutters flowed like streams, and puddles became small pools.

The sound of rain peppering our car put my daughter to sleep. Meanwhile, I was anxious to get home and out of the rain. Suddenly I felt compelled to exit the highway. “Erin-Rae,” I said, “wake up, honey. Let’s walk through a store for a little while and then we’ll head home.”

I sensed the detour might be at the direction of the Holy Spirit. Thirty minutes later, we hopped back on the highway. But traffic was now at a crawl. A semi-truck had overturned and cars had collided.

Fire engines, ambulances and squad cars encircled the scene of the accident, and paramedics huddled around victims. “Lord, help these people,” I whispered, as a police officer waved us ahead through a maze of flares.

When I saw the mangled truck, I knew God had indeed protected us. At one time, just before stopping, we had been following that same truck.

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you can rest assured the God of the universe is watching out for you. The God who raised Jesus from the grave has the power to keep you from harm and give you eternal life.

Romans 8:11 says, “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you” (NIV).

We acknowledge the greatness of God and thank Him for the gift of eternal life. And we lift our voices in praise to the Heavenly Father who watches out for us every day — rain or shine.
