  • July 11, 2014 - Reflections

    By Jean S. Horner
The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. For a moment it frightened me. Somehow a full-length reflection of one’s self is a startling thing. ...

May 17, 2011 - Filled With God

By Kristen Feola

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6, NIV).

Matthew 5:6 is one of my favorite verses. God’s Word makes it clear that when we desire the Lord above anything else in our lives, we will find everything we need in Him.

Whatever it is that you are seeking from the Lord, know that He is faithful to provide. Look how Jesus phrased this teaching from His Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 5:6 doesn’t say you might be filled. It doesn’t imply that the Lord will just think about filling you. It guarantees that you will be filled when you hunger for the Lord.

But, filled with what? Filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control — that’s what (Galatians 5:22)! Filled with the power of the Holy Spirit! Filled up to “the measure of all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19)!

Let this promise encourage you when you grow weary. Your pursuit of the Lord is never in vain. My prayer for you today is that “you will know Christ’s love, which goes far beyond any knowledge. I am praying this so that you may be completely filled with God” (Ephesians 3:19, God’s Word Translation).
