  • July 11, 2014 - Reflections

June 27, 2011 - Be Glad for Each Day

By Beatrice Northcutt

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24, KJV).

A miracle is performed before our eyes each morning as we watch the dawning of a new day. The gentle hand of God slowly raises the curtain to banish the darkness and bring the first rays of light. There’s only a glimmer at first, then the sun appears, sending brilliant colors across the eastern sky. God is giving us a new day to live for Him, and it is precious and very special — if we have Christ as our Savior.

Do we truly rejoice and be glad for each day, or do we complain because things haven’t gone exactly like we thought they should? Maybe instead of sunshine and brilliant colors there were clouds and rain, or storm clouds appeared. God still holds that day in His hands, and He has a reason for the kind of day He gives us.

The Scripture doesn’t say, “This is the ‘beautiful’ day which the Lord hath made,” but says, “THIS is the day which the Lord hath made.” If our hope and trust is in Him, then we can rejoice. Even if that day brings us the storms of life, He is there to hold the umbrella of His love over us.
