  • July 11, 2014 - Reflections

    By Jean S. Horner

July 18, 2011 - No Longer Hungry

By Kristen Feola

“You satisfy me” (Psalm 63:5, NLT).

When God created you and me, He placed within our hearts an appetite, a longing for something more. However, we often try to fill that space with the things of this world — money, possessions, food, alcohol, drugs and relationships — hoping to find fulfillment. In the end, though, we’re always left hungry and wanting more.

There’s a reason those things don’t satisfy us. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:11 that God “has planted eternity in the human heart.” That means He intentionally designed us with a deep spiritual longing, a desire that can only be met through relationship with Him. That place in your heart is reserved for the Lord alone, and until you surrender everything, you won’t be complete.

God invites us to empty ourselves so He can fill us with His unfailing love. Put your trust in God, and release anything else that has taken up residence in your heart and hidden Him from view. Confess to the Lord that He is all that you need. Open your heart to Him, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. When you do, you will find what you’re seeking.

You will be satisfied. Satisfied in Jesus.
