  • July 11, 2014 - Reflections

    By Jean S. Horner
The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. October 10, 2012 - Numbering Our Days

By Dorothy Rugg

It seems the older I get the faster life goes by. I’m reminded of life’s blistering speed when I look at advertising. The kids are barely out of school and already stores have school supplies out. And forget about trying to find some summer items; merchants have them put away or on clearance and not much to choose from. I shudder to think when I go to the store next week they will have Christmas trees out.

Those changes are humorous, but I’ve also been thinking of the scriptural approach to the passage of time. “So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12, NASB).

These words make me stop and think. Life is fleeting; it goes by so quickly, and we really don’t know how many days we have to live on earth. It is a wise person who seeks out wisdom and learns from God’s Word.

God loves people. He wants people to be reconciled to Him through His Son Jesus. God wants us to make the most out of our lives and to live in such a way that all glory goes to Him. Our lives should be testimonies of God’s love, grace and forgiveness. Each day can be a learning experience for us. All our days are held in His hands, so let’s make sure our heart is right with God.

Help us, Father, to live for Your glory and honor.
