    By Jean S. Horner
The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. For a moment it frightened me. Somehow a full-length reflection of one’s self is a startling thing. ...

January 18, 2013 - "Do You Love Me, Even When ... ?"

By Kristen Feola

"Put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption" (Psalm 130:7, NIV).

"Mom, do you love me even when I do bad things?" my 9-year-old daughter, Isabelle, asked one night as I tucked her into bed.

I quickly assured her that, even though there may be times when I'm disappointed with her choices, my love for her never changes. Isabelle is my child. She is part of me, and we have a special connection. Nothing can make me love her any more. Nothing can make me love her any less.

Isabelle's fear is familiar to all of us. According to the Bible, the longing to be validated is common to the human heart. Proverbs 19:22 says, "What a man desires is unfailing love."

Friend, there is One who promises and delivers such a love. God's affection toward you is not based upon your performance or achievements. It doesn't matter how "good" you are or whether your life is steeped in sin. In fact, that's precisely why Jesus came — to make a way for us to know God in a personal way. Because Jesus died, we can live. Because He suffered, we are free. Because He rose again, we can have eternal life.

God's love for you is not based upon feeling. It's unconditional, undying and unchanging. When you commit your life to God, you become His child and are adopted into His family. With God, you can have the deepest desire of your heart met. You can know unfailing love — love that never gives up, love that fills you with joy, hope and peace.

There truly is no greater love. Yes, God loves you even when, even if, and despite of any negative thing that comes to your mind. He loves you. Period.
