  • July 11, 2014 - Reflections

    By Jean S. Horner
The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. For a moment it frightened me. Somehow a full-length reflection of one’s self is a startling thing. ...

May 28, 2013 - Holding Up Holiness

By Doug Clay

Is it just me, or is anybody else tired of and concerned about the decay of moral values in our culture?

From TV shows (both the reality programs and the comedies) to the commercials, from the courtroom to the classroom, it feels like we are watching morality be redefined. I am deeply concerned.

All around us, we see God being removed from the mainstream of life and being replaced by whatever is popular!

But this is nothing new. It's what Paul was talking about in Romans 1:25: "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie" (NIV).

It feels as if we value tolerance more than truth. And if you represent the truth, then you are labeled as being judgmental. I'm sorry, but I still believe Jesus when He says, "The truth will set you free" (John 8:32).

"A nation without God's guidance is a nation without order. Happy are those who keep God's law!" (Proverbs 29:18, GNT).

"Doom to you who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness in place of light and light in place of darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20, The Message).

I hope you will join me in reaffirming both in word and deed that:

1. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).

2. God's Word is truth, absolute and universal (John 17:17).

As the salt and light of the earth, we cannot give up.
