July 8, 2013 - Be Nice

By Doug Clay

In a world of texts, tweets, instagrams, YouTube and casual Fridays, I sure hope we are not throwing our manners out the window.

Deadlines, budgets, conflicts, tensions and stresses are no excuse to be rude. For the sake of a good testimony, don't be a rude Christian.

Keep in mind ...

1. Courtesy counts ... even to telemarketers.

"Believers shouldn't curse anyone or be quarrelsome, but they should be gentle and show courtesy to everyone" (Titus 3:2, GW).

2. Dignity is deserved ... even by restaurant servers.

"Treat everyone you meet with dignity" (1 Peter 2:17, The Message).

3. Mercy matters ... even to those who hurt you.

"Forgive as the Lord forgave you," (Colossians 3:13, NIV).

4. Kindness is cool ... in any language.

"Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you" (Ephesians 4:32, NLT).

Start today. Treat everyone you encounter with an extra measure of kindness. It will make a difference in your day, and may influence their eternity.
