The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. For a moment it frightened me. Somehow a full-length reflection of one’s self is a startling thing. ...

March 5, 2014 - Spirit of Truth

By Gary Rogers

We desperately need truth in our lives, and the greatest Source of that truth is the Holy Spirit. Jesus called the Holy Spirit "the Spirit of truth" (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13). He promised the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth.

In our spiritual growth we will never become independent of the Holy Spirit. The truth is, as we grow in the Lord we become more aware of our total dependence upon the Holy Spirit to guide us daily into truth.

The Holy Spirit reveals to us the motives of our heart and the true intentions behind our actions. His truth cuts through the clutter and haze of emotions and personal agendas.

Sometimes the Holy Spirit will communicate to us, "You are wrong. You need to repent. You need to be sorry for what you did." The truth revealed here is clear. The mistake was ours.

Other times the Holy Spirit will say, "Don't worry what others think; I know the truth. If you will be patient and let Me, I'll cause truth to shine through." What reassurance that brings when we are misunderstood, misread or misjudged.

Once truth is revealed, then the Holy Spirit wants to be our source of courage to do the right thing. Courage is necessary to admit when we are wrong. Courage enables us to ignore the unfounded condemnation of others and wait on God to vindicate us. Courage helps us to see the truth and press ahead with God-directed purpose.

What truths is the Holy Spirit sharing with you today?
