    By Jean S. Horner
The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. For a moment it frightened me. Somehow a full-length reflection of one’s self is a startling thing. ...

April 24, 2014 - Under His Wings

By Ethel L. Tenney

The greatest gift of God our Father to the human heart is peace through the Lord Jesus Christ. He will give peace — His peace — to every trusting heart, even in the midst of trouble. I cannot tell you how it can be, but I know that God will keep in perfect peace all who trust in Him — all whose minds are stayed on Him (Isaiah 26:3).

The other day I stood by my kitchen window looking out. It was one of those cold, rough, windy days with the snow blowing hurricane fashion. Up in one of the topmost branches of a large tree near the house I saw a little bird. He sat there content, in spite of the severe cold. The wind and snow would blow, and the branch would swing back and forth; yet he seemed almost unaware of the storm.

I thought, "God has given the birds feathers to protect their tiny bodies." Then it came to my heart that I, too, am safe in the storms of life. God covers me with His feathers and under His wings I can trust (Psalm 91:4).

Marvelous as is His care of the sparrow (Matthew 10:29-31), how much more will He keep His own Blood-bought and redeemed ones in the hour of trial. We are of much more value in His sight.

"Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof" (Psalm 46:2,3, KJV).
