    By Jean S. Horner
The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. For a moment it frightened me. Somehow a full-length reflection of one’s self is a startling thing. ...

Fruit of the Spirit: Love

Truth Verse
“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” — 1 John 4:8

Love that is part of the fruit of the Spirit is love like Jesus showed. It puts others first, never quits, and is given to everyone, not just to our friends. The fruit of the Spirit in our lives helps us choose to treat others as we want to be treated — even when it’s not easy.

The fruit of the Spirit can help us love everyone, including our enemies. In Matthew 5:44, Jesus tells us to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Even when Jesus was on the cross He still loved His enemies enough to forgive them (Luke 23:34).

Have you ever been left out? Has someone said mean things to you or said they aren’t your friend anymore? These are all times when we need the Holy Spirit to help us love others.

Love is a choice. We choose to love others as much as we love ourselves. We choose to share our things with them. We choose to be their friends even if no one else is. We choose to forgive them when they hurt us. We can find out even more about love by reading 1 Corinthians 13.

Jesus loved us enough to die for us, so we can go to heaven and be with Him forever. (See Romans 5:8.) He never quits loving us.
