July 17, 2012 - Grow Up!
By Scott McChrystal
“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation” (1 Peter 2:2, NIV).
The United States Navy Sea, Air and Land Forces, commonly known as the U.S. Navy SEALs, are the Special Operations Forces of the U.S. Navy. Anyone can volunteer, enlisted or officer. Training is incredibly tough and demanding.
Regardless of age or ability, every “recruit” in SEAL training must grow — physically, mentally and emotionally. Those who don’t grow leave the program. Why? SEAL missions are tough. Only those who have grown will survive and be able to contribute to mission accomplishment.
The Christian life is similar. Training is tough, and there are no shortcuts. The enemy of our souls is a formidable foe. Those who don’t grow in Christian maturity greatly limit their effectiveness. Unfortunately, many Christians remain like spiritual babies and never grow into spiritual warriors.
Tired of not growing? Is life beating you up? Decide today to seek God with all of your heart. Read your Bible and pray with an earnest desire to know God better. He will honor your efforts. You will grow.
God’s Word says you are more than a conqueror!
